I'm happy to finally help you with something, after you've helped me so many times! ipad art is pretty entertaining. Very time consuming though... I was wondering about taking notes too actually, not sure if I can type fast enough on it. I'm surprised there's no note-taking/drawing app out there. It would be so useful. Have fun in Jonny B's Nuts and Bolts class - I SO wish I could take it!

Yeah! In the normal shell, I don't have to use ESC f and ESC b now... Meta-f and Meta-b for jumping forward. Thanks! pressing ESC is much slower than just holding Opt down. Michelle, you rock. And I'm seriously jealous of your artistic skill with the ipad. Now, if I could find a free app for taking notes in lecture for the ipad that will let me type and sketch! I tried using the iPad for Jonny's MB Nuts and Bolts, I was fine with Notes until he started making some drawings talking about all the rotation angles and how sectors work.

[...] So it’s back to Inkscape. I love open source! It was an easy install – I decided to take a pass on compiling from source, and just grabbed the .dmg file from the downloads page. And of course, I already went through the whole Inkscape plus Latex thing a while ago. [...]

Incidentally - in iPython, the behavior is basically like Matlab - up arrow goes through command hisotry, and typing partial commands, followed by the up arrow restricts the search. I run and debug all of my scripts through iPython now.

Kurt - Have you used this? Do you like it better than GRASS? The only reason I wanted to try GRASS is because it's the only one I'd heard of. I just had a quick look at their website, and this one looks cool too.

Don't forget to do these to get the latest and greatest:

fink configure # Say yes to unstable (which means gets actual updates - stable is missing lots)
fink selfupdate-rsync (do this once to get rsync, after just do fink selfupdate)
fink list py26 # See all the fink pythkn 2.6 packages
